The Department of Health (DoH) introduced the Healthy Start scheme to promote healthy eating among low-income families and ensure children received a nutritious start in life. Through a system of vouchers, the initiative provided access to fresh fruit and vegetables, infant formula and cow’s milk. MRM played an important role in the early stages of the program, working closely with the DoH to design a secure process for voucher redemption and payment distribution to retailers.
As the DoH’s clearing house, MRM implemented efficient systems to manage the high volume of voucher redemptions. Using high-speed scanners, they captured voucher images, prices and retailer information to ensure timely and accurate reimbursements. The MRM Call Centre also served as a vital support hub for the Healthy Start project, managing enquiries, supplier registrations, complaints, and follow-ups. By maintaining clear communication and reliable service, MRM strengthened the scheme’s integrity and contributed significantly to its nationwide success.
