Jubilee Foodbank – “Helping in times of food crisis”

Like most organisations, we have had our challenges this year. Thanks to the adaptability and support of our staff, we have managed to sustain our business throughout. Whilst our team have undoubtedly experienced some highs and lows, we are constantly reminded that there are so many people locally who are enduring a far more difficult time than ourselves. And with that in mind, our staff have been keen to help a very important local charity.

The Jubilee Foodbank – based like ourselves in Market Harborough - was originally set up in 2012 to meet the needs of a small number of families in the local community. Fast forward to 2020 alongside a global pandemic and the Foodbank has had its busiest year so far. Jubilee Foodbank is run entirely by volunteers who assist in the food store, the collections team, packing food parcels and on the management committee.

Jubilee Foodbank’s aim is to provide everyone who requires food with 3 meals plus drinks and snacks for 3 days, within a single food parcel. This is all able to run because of the generous donations from individuals and businesses in the community.  Sadly they are currently despatching A LOT of food.

Emma Fletcher, on behalf of the Jubilee Foodbank Management Committee commented,

"The Foodbank has seen an unprecedented number of referrals in 2020, but we have also received amazing support from local individuals and businesses who want to help people in Market Harborough who are in food poverty or food crisis.  For that, we are extremely grateful"

As a major Market Harborough employer we are pleased to be able to help such a great not for profit organisation. To find out more about Jubilee Foodbank and the fantastic work that they do, click here: https://jubileefoodbankmh.uk/
